Vinay has won various yoga competitions including the very prestigious All India Champion of Champions (which he won 5 times).  Although not popular in the West, Yoga competitions are common in India, and helped Vinay develop his style.

Prana Yashya Yoga includes the study of Yogasanas (postures) and Pranayama (meditation and breathing exercises).

The postures of the Primary Series are completed in one continous flow of movements and breath in sync.

About Prana Vashya Primary Series

Prana Vashya Yoga places a large emphasis on breath control.  The breath flows continuously through the series. This stops the practitioner's mind from wandering, and allows them to focus on their practice. Prana Vashya Yoga also utilises breath locks called Kumbhakas in certain postures. A beginner will find this very difficult, however, with time they will learn to accept the training. The flowing nature of the Primary Series makes Prana Vashya a style of Vinyasa Yoga (where the postures are performed in a continuous series of breaths and movements).

Prana Vashya Yoga will help students develop an intense level of physical, physiological, psychological stamina and health. The postures induce stress and will prepare students to remain calm under environmental stress. The body is trained equally in strength, flexibility and balance, bringing both physical and health benefits.  A strong mind, body and good health are required to build awareness in a student. The practice will seem hard at first, but once the mind realises it is stronger than the body it will become easier. This is the first stage of yoga.
